Mauricio Gomes

I’m a software engineer based in Michigan (USA). I was born in Brazil, and I speak Portuguese and English. I work at R1’s R37 Lab, building the platform that powers clinical agents. I love learning, sweating the little UX details, and thinking about how technology intersects with people.

In the past I co-founded Mav and worked at Heroku, where I built internal tooling, inference and agent endpoints, and a vibe-coding product.

I’ve also created and maintain a handful of open source projects. Vibescript is my own little programming language designed to be embedded in Rust programs. Adamantium is a Rust crate that provides copy-on-write values, scoped tasks, actors, channels, and lint rules to ensure reliable programs.

I also have a few apps for the Apple ecosystem. WordTwist is an iOS fill-in crossword game. Atomic is a backup app that encrypts and dedupes backups at blazing speeds. DotDecimal is a Mac, iPad, and iOS app designed to be a modern spreadsheet for kids and adults alike.

I also made Open Audiobooks, a free catalog of classic books read aloud. Each book is a file with chapters and cover art built in, so your audiobook app shows the chapters and remembers where you stopped.

I revel in serendipity and the unexpected. My goal in life is to learn everything and do every side quest.
